Veritable flower carpets are created to decorate some of the most beautiful and picturesque areas of Capannori, a tradition renewed every year to celebrate the Corpus Domini.
The air and the streets are filled with colours and scents, making parks and streets actual shows: entire communities and people of all ages are involved in the making of the 'fiorite', keeping alive a tradition going back in an unmemorable past.
The making of the flower carpets, locally called pertèro, engages groups of adults and children. In the days leading to the celebration, locals go and pick the best flowers in the meadows on the hills of Capannori. The 'fiorite' can be visited in some of the parks in and around Capannori, and are often the sparkle for a friendly rivalry over the best designs.
Every year the City Administration promotes the 'fiorite', and citizens and tourists alike are invited to admire the beauty of such charming tradition.
