A Journey Through Capannori: Where Sustainability Meets Discovery

A trip to Capannori is more than just an exploration of charming villages and breathtaking landscapes. It is an immersion into a virtuous model of waste management, where every scrap is seen as a valuable resource to be reused and regenerated. Let yourself be guided along this path of sustainable tourism, discovering a territory that has made environmental protection its hallmark, where people genuinely care for their land.

This itinerary offers a unique way to explore the area through inspiring best practices that highlight Capannori’s commitment to the environment and a truly sustainable future.

The starting point of this journey is the Zero Waste Research Center, located within the Capannori Science Park. Since 2010, a group of citizens and circular economy experts—led by Rossano Ercolini—has been analyzing material flows from urban waste collection and developing initiatives and actions to reduce them.

Close to the Science Park is the Conserve Laboratory, an innovative agricultural project by the Calafata farming cooperative. Here, surplus agricultural produce is transformed into delicious preserves. Visitors can also purchase these locally made products directly at the lab.

Another highlight along the path of sustainable Capannori is Emporio Daccapo, a part of a solidarity-based reuse network created by the Diocesan Caritas. The emporium engages in various activities—from collecting and repurposing furniture, clothing, and objects to offering repair, carpentry, and tailoring services.

Visiting and supporting Daccapo means contributing to giving new life to objects and resources within the local community.
