Gran Fondo Mario Cipollini
Two circuits, the scenery of the hills of Capannori, a pedalled mount to ride: a wonderful Sunday June for the Gran Fondo Mario Cipollini.
Gather round, bicycle lovers! The Gran Fondo is held on the the first Sunday of June and is dedicated to Mario Cipollini, multi-awarded road cycling champion from Lucca. There are two different circuits: the first goes up and down the hills for 140 km and a total ascending elevation of 1,650 m, while the other is shorter and has 'only' a 900 m combined elevation.
Both circuits start from the central square of Capannori, cross the Plain of Lucca and let cyclists speed through the beauties of our territory. The athletes will be able to rest for a while at the refreshment points set along the circuit. Should you have problems with your bike, worry not! Technical assistance is provided at every checkpoint.
The event is open to teams and individuals. For both circuits, the five teams with the most participants will be awarded, as well as the first three individuals in both male and female races. The awards consist of trophies, technical equipment and a selection of local produce.
Children will not be forgotten: they will have the opportunity to attend an on street bicycle safety class offered by police agents.
